Brucely Bertin, of Union, was heading southbound in a stolen 2009 Nissan Altima when he lost control and hit the pole at North Wood Avenue and Gesner Street around 3 a.m., Linden police said.
One of Bertin's passengers, a 16-year-old girl, was ejected and seriously injured, and taken to University Hospital, according to police. A second passenger, an 18-year-old man from Union, was also taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.
Both are expected to survive, authorities said.
Bertin was also injured, but he was treated at the scene, according to police.
An investigation revealed that the sedan had been stolen in Union early Wednesday morning, police said.
Bertin was charged with receiving stolen property, endangering the welfare of a minor, and assault by auto.
He was released on a summons pending a scheduled appearance in Superior Court.
